Continuing our theme of Winter Training we recently spoke to Declan Clifford about his trip to CWC just before Christmas
Q: Why travel all that way to CWC when you could be in South Africa or the US or snowboarding in Europe?
Declan: Having seen the Statement DVDs and having heard all about how good the cable was, CWC was the place I wanted to go more than any where else in the world to experience the six corner cable
Q: How many of the Top International Riders were there during your visit?
Declan: Jonty Green was there but most were arriving after I left
Q: Does riding with other international riders change your style of riding or influence what new tricks you are trying?
Declan: Yer just seeing what the top riders have, gives me an idea of what I need to learn. This really inspires me
Q: Landed a new trick? Or improved on one trick?
Declan: Whilst I was out in the Phillippines I learnt tantrum to blind, Switch Mobe and Tweety
Q: How’s the food?
Declan: Not really for me ! But I liked the fries, Strawberry Ice Cream and lived off Mango & Bananna Shakes..
Q: How many hours riding a day?
Declan: All day every day, people kept asking how I was managing to do it !!
Q: How many hours partying?
Declan: Most Nights there was partying. CWC threw a Christmas Party for us one night – good times!! My first Jagermeister…..
Q: Which rider/riders have you met who you didn’t know already?
Declan: Loads of local riders, Kim and some boys from the UK that I hadn’t really known before James Chase, Alex Rudge and Carl Frith
Q: Which one rider would you prefer to ride with? British – International
Declan: British – Nick Davies and International -Parks Bonifay
Q: Name one sight or place that you love in the Philippines and why?
Declan: The view of the cable first thing in the morning with the mountains in the background and just thinking yer time to ride!!!. We visited the hot springs and they were great, but nothing beat the view of the cable first thing
Q: How long have you were you there?
Declan: We went out on the 10th December until the Christmas Day.. so 2 weeks really
Q: Was your trip too long or too short?
Declan: it was too short!!!!
Q: Any injuries while there?
Declan: No thank god !
Q: When’s your next visit to CWC?
Declan: In the winter this year I hope.
